Origami

I had folded you up with delicate care, intricate origami 

placed you in a back corner of this place, my heart 

I didn't intend on visiting there

left you, a relic to ponder maybe years from now 

you would remain, secrets tucked in folds 

then, you opened up 

maybe blown in by a winter wind 

creases, secret notes hidden in folds 

and all 

wrapped around me, summer rain like 

and, I'm hesitant to dry you off 

so, i'll let it linger 

for a bit ... 

then, fold you up again

along the same crease lines 

delicately ...

all the lights, twinkle twinkle little lights
box lights, hundreds of them 
on building, in homes, cars 
from a distance, small, twinkle twinkle lights

on and off, moving, little lights 
big lives, big stories
big loves, big losses

all those little, little, twinkling lights
