So, I'm not one to fret about being in my 30s and I didn't think it was really any different than 29 until I opened up my Anthem invoice and was puzzled to see a $24/month increase in my health insurance premium.
Initially, I chalked it up to rising health care costs. But wait, Anthem provided an explanation and it reads like this: "Your premium increase reflects your current age." Ha! You see, because "people tend to use more medical services as they get older." What a bunch of crock.
It totals up to an additional $288 per year, which isn't going to break my back, but as an already highly indebted graduate student this doesn't make me happy. And since they anticipate that I will "use more medical services", I almost want to go out and do JUST that and be like Ha! There you have it. Now pay those doctor bills you suckers! But, this is only my momentary frustration talking ... ahhh ... welcome to 30.
